Our client is hiring a Financial Supervisor. This Financial Supervisor will perform all managerial finance and administration tasks to support the infrastructure, a portfolio of over $40 million in annual federal funding and $6 million in non-sponsored funding, train and develop the team, and support executive management in their stead. This position will support our client's Chief Operating Officer and their various projects, and make financial decisions in the absence of the Chief Operating Officer. This position will play a strong role in the development of collaborations, MOUs and relationship building for the institute on the administrative side and as a liaison to the company's legal entities. The position will all have direct oversite and approval authority for the company's purchasing, expense reimbursement,, journals and cost-transfers, and personnel funding changes.

The School comprises of 3 main academic departments (Clinical Pharmacy, Bioengineering and Therapeutics Sciences, and Pharmaceutical Chemistry), 1 operational department that houses several subunits (Web and Communications, Student Curricular, Education, Educational and Informational Services, and Finance and Administration) and 1 Organization Research Unit (ORU).

**This is a hybrid position (3 days in office, 2 days remote) located in Mission Bay, San Francisco, CA**

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration – Focus in Finance or in a related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Finance/Finance Administration
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a lead/supervisor/manager.
  • Extensive knowledge of finance policies, practices and systems, budgeting and reporting techniques, accounting and bookkeeping. Includes MyReports, Bearbuy, MyExpense, People Soft, UCPath Box, and any other campus apps used frequently by Financial Officers
  • Solid understanding of financial and resource planning concepts as well as how to control organizational budgeting.
  • Experience with handling a minimum $25MIL portfolio and exposure to government funding and grants.
  • Ability to prepare and present materials to internal and external constituents.
  • Extensive knowledge of human resource policies, practices, and planning.
  • Advanced skills in the use of spreadsheet and database software.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across the organization at all levels.
  • Proven ability to deal with changing priorities and direct the work of others accordingly. Ability to multi-task.
  • Demonstrated ability to screen applications, interview candidates, and either make selection decisions or recommend individuals for hire.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
  • Client services oriented; has good listening, communication, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
